Southern Plainsmen to Host 34th Annual Homecoming This Weekend

HORNBECK, La. – (June 20, 2012) – West-Central Louisiana’s Southern Plainsmen are proud to host their 34thAnnual Homecoming this weekend. The event will start on Friday, June 20, 2012 and conclude on Saturday, June 21, 2012.

This year’s event features a bevy of performers and fan favorites. In addition to the Southern Plainsmen, the Homecoming will play host to the Men of Music, Dennis Rehders, and Marsha Fisher on Friday evening. Saturday evening will feature The Southmen, New Day, The Gospel Echoes, Dennis Rehders, and Marsha Fisher.

“We always look forward to our Homecoming weekend every year,” mentioned Southern Plainsmen’s Marcelle Slaughter. “The folks who come out every year have such a blast, and we know that they are going to enjoy this year as much as they have years’ past.”

The concerts start at 6:00 p.m. both days and will be held at the Hornbeck High School auditorium.

The Southern Plainsmen were recently honored at the 2011 Harvest Music Festival. The group was named the 2011 “Gospel Gold Artist of the Year.” The “Gospel Gold Artist of the Year” Award was handed out as a part of the Harvest Music Festival which was held this past November 10-12, 2011 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center.

In addition to this award, the Southern Plainsmen Quartet were recently inducted into the North Louisiana Gospel Music Hall of Fame. On Friday evening, October 21, 2011, the Southern Plainsmen received this career high at the induction ceremony, which took place at The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities in West Monroe, Louisiana.
