HORNBECK, La. – (May 24, 2011) – West-Central Louisiana’s Southern Plainsmen Quartet were recently honored by the South Texas Gospel Music Association (STGMA) at the organization’s annual event.  The Southern Plainsmen were named this year’s Group of the Year. In addition, baritone vocalist Allen Doyle was named the 2011 Male Vocalist of the Year.  Marcelle Slaughter of the Southern Plainsmen Quartet said, “We are so honored to have received this awards by such a great organization. The STGMA is a fantastic organization, and we are trilled that they would honor us in such a manner.
The STGMA strives to enlist singing groups, musicians, churches, and other supporters of gospel music into working together in one accord. STGMA invites churches to begin hosting concerts and asking those who do have regular singings to have at least one more–during the year. STGMA assists performing members in securing concert dates at churches and promotes the music ministries of STGMA members.
