Hey all! This is Rob Patz, your on-the-spot reporter from Southern Gospel Weekend in Oxford, Alabama. I have already talked with many people here at the hotel and at the Civic Center, and I’ve sensed their excitement about this year’s Southern Gospel Weekend.  It is going to be a wonderful weekend filled with Gospel music and fellowship.
Last night we started off with prayer at the gazebo outside the Oxford Civic Center, and today we are already seeing groups set up their booths and the sound people setting up sound and light in the main auditorium. Tonight is going to be a wonderful evening honoring the true heroes of America – our veterans – Â and we would love for you to be there.
Opening our evening tonight, will be Scott Roberts and the Five O’clock Band. The National Anthem will be performed by Exodus. Ken Rollins, Alabama Dept of Veterans Affairs and host of Veteran’s Issues Channel 24 will be the keynote speaker, following which will be the Introduction of Veterans and a patriotic song by the Sharps Quartet. The concert lineup includes Jason Runnells, Kristen Stanton, The Jonathans, Tina Wakefield, Brad Mount, the Pine Ridge Boys, Brothers 4, Kelly Coberly, Revived Quartet, Ava Kasich, The Chandlers, Chronicle and The Williamsons.
SGW salutes the U.S.Military and wishes to extend their appreciation to those who protect America. Members of the Military plus one friend are our VIP guests tonight.
If you are thinking about coming tonight, please do in fact bring your whole church family. We would love to see everybody in Oxford Alabama tonight at the Civic Center, for the beginning of Southern Gospel Weekend. It’s going to be three great days that you will never forget!
