Daniel Cline, the younger brother of national recording artist Shellem Cline, was a victim of a roof collapse on Saturday October 3, in his hometown of Statesville, NC. Cline, 15, is a member of the South Iredell High School Band and was at a regional band competition at North Iredell High School when the roof collapsed.
The band members were outside under the concrete awning, when the truck carrying their equipment struck the awning, sending it falling to the ground. Over 20 students were taken to the area hospitals and injuries ranged from minor to life threatening. One student underwent surgery, as medical personnel was forced to amputate the leg.
Daniel had minor injuries to the back, arms and legs, but was seen as a hero as he helped fellow classmates by pulling them out of the wreckage.
“I am so proud of Daniel. He was a true hero on Saturday and I thank God for keeping him safe during this tragedy. I ask that you keep him in your prayers as he is very sore and is still shaken up from the event,” Cline stated.
