St. Jude Benefit Concert Exclusive Report

T & T promotions & Stanley Pierce presented the 13^th Annual St. Jude’s Gospel Sing on Saturday, August 6 at the Georgia Mountain Center.  The concert featured: Karen Peck & New River, The Perry’s, The Kingsmen, the Down East Boys, and CS&K. The concert generated over $27,000 in donations to assist St. Jude in their cancer research. It was the largest donation to date for this annual sing. A red and white St Jude’s banner adorned the front of the stage which displayed a profound statement; Finding Cures. Saving Children.

Danny Jones. of Singing News. was the emcee of the night. Danny stated that when you give, you become somebody’s hero.    

Taking to the stage first was hometown artist CS&K from Gillsville, GA. CS&K are the 2010 NQC Talent Competition winners. The trio preformed “Living In The Pages” and “Our God Saves.”  CS&K were followed by the Down East Boys from Reidsville, NC who were no strangers to the St. Jude’s Annual Sing. The Down East Boys were turning out old favorites like “He’s A Personal Savior,” “Send The Light,” “I Feel Like Traveling On” and “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.” I looked around the arena and noticed that everyone was singing along with them. Tony received a standing ovation for his performance on “Little Is Much.”

The multi Grammy nominated Karen Peck and New River, along with Karen’s children; Matthew and Kari Gooch, hit the stage with “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown” and had the audience on their feet! With the audience still standing, Karen paid tribute to all the veterans with a stellar performance of our National Anthem.  Jeff Hawes also gave a performance that was second to none, on “This Is What Mercy Does.”  The audience was moved to tears as KPNR sang their latest release “On The Banks of The Promise Land.”   

 Bryan, Randy, Harold, and Ray of The Kingman’s Quartet kept the spirit going with songs like “When God Ran,” “If Not for The Love of Christ” and “After The Sunrise.”  “Beautiful Home” has always been a fan favorite by Ray Dean Reese, who is celebrating 46 years in the ministry.  Everyone loved the Kingsmen’s latest release “That’s All I Need.”  Great song! 

 When The Perry’s walked on stage they began to sing “Plan of Salvation” which featured Tracy Stuffle. What a miracle! Tracy has stayed true to his meds, his diet and his calling. The Perry’s also preformed hit after hit “I Know It Was The Blood,”  “I Rest My Case,” “Wish I Could Have Been There,” “If You Knew Him” and “Celebrate Me Home.” 

As the night drew to a close the groups joined together on stage to sing “God Walks The Dark Hills,” “Living In Canaan Now” and “I Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey Now.”
