the Williamsons are headed into a jam-packed summer after a breakthrough spring. Over the last few months the Williamsons have been nominated for awards in the Singing News, SGN Scoops, Absolutely Gospel, and Christian Voice Magazine. They have been the Featured Artist Spotlight on Enlighten radio and were just recently a guest on Singing News Radio. Throw in a full tour schedule and it’s obvious that they are being blessed by the Lord.
The Williamsons have seen a surge in excitement and a growth in new fans over the last year. With three songs in the Singing News Top 40, two in the Top 5, and a #1 with “Shout,” the group is now seeing rewards for their success on radio. At the Absolutely Gospel Awards, the mixed group was honored to bring home the “Song of the Year“ award. The Williamsons are currently nominated in the Top 5 for the Singing News Favorite New Artist. This week, they received the news that they have been nominated for five awards in the SGN Scoops Diamond Awards; Mixed Group of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Gospel Music Video of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. These nominations come on the heels of being nominated in the Christian Voice Magazine Southern Gospel Fan Awards for Favorite Album and Favorite Video.
The Williamsons are quick to remind people that while they are deeply honored by each award and each nomination, the reason they sing goes much farther than honors. Their hearts desire is to see the message of Christ touch lives all around the world. In June they will travel to Kenya on a missions trip. “We are so excited to help spread the love of Christ to the people of Kenya. We are looking forward to a life changing experience,” stated Donnie Williamson.
Adding to all of this excitement, the Williamsons are currently in pre-production on a new Hymns and Favorites recording as well as finding songs for their next mainline project. “Their last album introduced this talented group to the fans of Gospel music in a big way. I believe the next album will secure their position as one of Gospel music’s top groups,” added Les Butler, President of Butler Music Group.
