Tupelo, MS, September 1, 2010—Eight Days of Hope announced that they will be leading a major rebuilding effort in Nashville, Tennessee this fall to help this area rebuild from the floods earlier this year that caused over two billion dollars of damage.Â
Eight Days of Hope has set November 20th through November 27th to bring together volunteers from across the nation to rebuild this beautiful city. EDOH President, Stephen Tybor, III said, “The thousands of people who are still living in despair after these horrible floods don’t make the nightly news. Those who are still waiting for help in rebuilding do not have a voice. Eight Days of Hope’s goal is to bring hope to those who are still waiting and help them rebuild their homes before the Christmas season.â€
Eight Days of Hope is a nonprofit faith based organization committed to rebuilding the damaged homes of those affected by natural disasters. Since 2005, over 6,000 Eight Days of Hope volunteers have helped to rebuild or remodel 954 homes in Mississippi, Louisiana and Iowa on six different relief trips.Â
“We rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations to help support the efforts of our volunteers,†Tybor stated. “We provide assistance to the uninsured and the underinsured and appreciate those who lay the financial foundation for this work.â€
To date, more than nine million dollars of work has been completed by Eight Days of Hope. Tybor expects another large turnout of volunteers for the organizations seventh trip. “I expect over 1,000 volunteers will come to Nashville with over 50 percent of these volunteers being electricians, carpenters, licensed contractors and tradesman ready to help those in need.â€
Eight Days of Hope will be aided by Christ Church in Nashville and the Southeast Nashville Recovery Group. Senior Pastor Dan Scott said “We are excited to host and partner with Eight Days of Hope in restoring the city of Nashville after the devastating May floods. Being in this community for over 60 years, we have developed a deep love and concern for our neighbors. For this reason, we welcome Eight Days of Hope and their volunteers from all over the United States as, together, we restore Nashville one home at a time.â€
