Nashville, TN – Ann Downing and her retreat planning committee are readying themselves and the Nashville, TN Airport Holiday Inn to receive attendees for the 25th Annual Middle Tennessee Women’s Retreat (MTWR). The retreat began in 1992 as a shared vision with Ann’s late husband, Paul Downing. Plans were already in progress for the first retreat when Paul suddenly fell ill less than 5 months prior to its start. From a Lexington, KY Critical Care waiting area Ann summoned all her courage to continue with plans for the inaugural retreat. Paul Downing passed away in February before the May retreat dates. “Once Paul moved to Heaven, I never dreamed there would be more than one retreat, but here we are staring at the approaching 25th annual gathering. That’s simply God.”
Keynote speakers for the event include prolific author and former editor of Focus on the Family Magazine, Sandra Aldrich, along with Rev. Michael Benson, author, evangelist, and son of Benson Music Company’s Bob Benson. There are 6 total keynote speaker sessions through the weekend along with 5 different options for breakout sessions. “Middle Tennessee Women’s Retreat is different.” added committee member, Karissa Petty. “We welcome women of all ages and denominational and socio-economic backgrounds. We believe the Bible lays out a clear plan for generational interaction. Accordingly, you’ll find women 80 years of age in a small group with women 40 or 60 years their junior, but don’t let that fool you; the learning goes both ways. That’s just one aspect of MTWR that sets it apart.”
Early registration for the retreat runs through February 15th. Registrations are accepted up to the start of the retreat, but early registration is encouraged. MTWR 2016 runs March 18-20. The Nashville Airport Holiday Inn is located off Briley Parkway. More information can be found on the Ann Downing
