Nashville, TN (June 4, 2012) – Ma Marcie “Eldrene†Spell Carter, mother of the Anchormen’s, Terry Carter, left this earthly life for her eternal home to be with Jesus her Savior on May 25, 2012 at the age of 76.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her best friend and devoted husband of 55 years, Otha James “Bigon†Carter; her loving sons, James Terry Carter as mentioned) and wife, Karen, and Glen Herring Carter and wife, Brenda; grandson, Jacob Carter; sisters, Olareas Holloway and Brenda Hall; brothers, A.E. Spell, Elbert Spell, Welton Spell and Tony Spell; step-brothers, Tolar Melvin, Burnice Melvin and Jerry Melvin and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Carter was a long-time faithful member of Northeast Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.
Eldrene, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was a faithful, caring wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She found great joy in the simplest of things but her greatest joy was family. Being a people’s person, Eldrene never met a stranger and one was not in her presence long before you knew how proud she was of her “boysâ€. She enjoyed southern gospel singing, especially her favorite group, the Anchormen, and spending time with her grandson, who was the apple of her eye.
Being active in her church through the years, she was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. Eldrene’s family is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.
